The Best Travel Hack For A Weekend Getaway

25 Jan The Best Travel Hack For A Weekend Getaway

My husband and I love alone time especially if it is a weekend getaway. With two kids under the age of 3 nothing gets better than a weekend getaway. Or lets be honest, even a night in a hotel in the same town is a major break. A nice dinner a few glasses of wine and no one getting me up at 3am, or as per usual in my house 6:30am for the day. Sign me up!

We do this often enough that I like to take the guilt of spending money on a hotel out of the equation. That is where my amazing travel hack comes in. You have probably seen the Priceline.com commercials where they talk about bidding wars for travel, but have you ever looked at the Express Deals?

This is our “go-to” weekend/night getaway finder. For example, we can make a last minute reservation at a 4 star hotel in Dallas, Texas for around $60 a night. Seriously! Depending on the time of year, the location you are looking at you can get even better deals. The rub is you still don’t know exactly what hotel you are booking. But does that really matter? As long as you have the amenities you want for the weekend who cares what the name is on the outside.

I just did a quick search for this weekend in Chicago. Hello 4.5 star hotel for $73! Still a little high for you? There is a 3-star for $49. Express Deals is a great way to travel and beat your budget. Screen Shot 2016-01-25 at 2.56.50 PM

Choosing a hotel based on the star rating has always worked out for us. Even on trips that we plan in advance-if it is just us-we look at Priceline.com express deals a day or two before we leave and book the room then.

This hack has saved us hundreds of dollars on a weekend trip. Let me know if you use this hack or if you have other money saving ideas on hotels!
